## Overview

## Overview

Cal.com runs on a single, audacious typographic decision. The hero headline — "The better way to schedule your meetings" — is set in Cal Sans at 64px / weight 600 over a soft `#f4f4f4` canvas, and that's essentially the entire brand identity. No hero illustration, no gradient, no glassmorphic card. The display family was commissioned by Cal and released as open-source (SIL OFL) — the design itself is part of the open-source mission.

What makes it distinctive vs. Calendly and the rest of the scheduling category: every competitor reaches for stock illustration and pastel gradients. Cal strips it all back to type on paper. The category-default link blue (`#0000ee`) is preserved on secondary navigation pills as a deliberate "we trust the web's defaults" signal — the kind of move only an open-source-native team would make.

The system's second visual signature is **product UI fragments shown directly inside cards** — calendar widgets, scheduling forms, automation diagrams, integration tiles. Cal.com doesn't paint marketing illustrations of the product; it shows the actual product chrome at small scale embedded in the marketing flow. The card surface is the picture frame; the content is real product UI.

The dark navy footer (`#101010`) is the page's only tonal break — it visually closes long-scroll pages without breaking the paper-white discipline of the chrome above. Reading the homepage feels like flipping through an open-source project's README rendered at marketing scale: confident, slightly understated, generous with whitespace.

**Key Characteristics:**
- Soft paper canvas `#f4f4f4` — warmer than `#fafafa`, cooler than pure white.
- Single typographic decision: Cal Sans display weight 600, that's the brand.
- Two-family system: Cal Sans display + Inter body. Three weights: 400/500/600.
- Browser-default link blue `#0000ee` preserved as ideological tell.
- 12px card radius — soft rectangle, never pill (except section anchors).
- Section anchors as floating pills (9999) — only chromed element.
- Product UI fragments inside cards — never stock illustrations.
- Dark `#101010` footer closes long pages — the only tonal break.
- 96–160px section gutters — generous open-source pacing.

## Colors

### Primary

- **Background** (`#f4f4f4`): soft paper canvas, warmer than `#fafafa`, the page's defining surface.
- **Text** (`#111111`): near-black, hair of warmth — body emphasis.
- **Brand / CTA** (`#111111`): Cal's brand "color" is essentially text-color. The CTA fill is the same hue as headline text.

### Brand & Dark

- **Surface Dark** (`#101010`): footer background — visually closes long-scroll pages.
- **Surface Dark Elevated** (`#1a1a1a`): elevated dark surface (rare).
- **Brand Active** (`#242424`): press state for primary CTA.
- **Brand Disabled** (`#e5e7eb`): disabled CTA background.

### Accent

Cal.com is essentially **chromatically minimal**. The only intentional accent is the preserved browser-default link blue. The product itself uses a brand-accent blue `#3b82f6` inside calendar widgets, but the marketing chrome stays monochrome.

- **Link Blue** (`#0000ee`): browser default — preserved as ideological tell.
- **Brand Accent (in-product)** (`#3b82f6`): used inside scheduling form widgets, not on chrome.

### Interactive

- **Link** (`#0000ee`): preserved browser default.
- **Link Visited** (`#551a8b`): preserved browser default.
- **Link Hover** (`#0000aa`): darker on hover.
- **Focus Ring** (`2px solid #111111`): near-black ring with 2px offset on light canvas; white on dark footer.

### Neutral Scale

- **Text Strong** (`#000000`): pure black — used sparingly for display emphasis.
- **Text** (`#111111`): default near-black.
- **Text Body** (`#374151`): default running paragraph.
- **Text Soft** (`#6b7280`): captions, metadata.
- **Text Muted** (`#898989`): secondary metadata.
- **Text Faint** (`#9ca3af`): disabled state.

### Surface & Borders

- **Surface** (`#ffffff`): cards, navigation pills, elevated regions.
- **Surface Soft** (`#f8f9fa`): subtle elevated band.
- **Surface Card** (`#f5f5f5`): feature card light-gray background.
- **Surface Strong** (`#e5e7eb`): tertiary surface.
- **Border** (`rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.08)`): translucent low-contrast — most cards use this hairline.
- **Border Soft** (`#f3f4f6`): nested row.
- **Border Strong** (`#e5e7eb`): input + secondary button border.

### Shadow Colors

- **Shadow Ambient** (`rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.04) 0 1px 2px`): product mockup cards.
- **Shadow Standard** (`rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.06) 0 2px 8px`): hover lift on testimonials.
- **Shadow Inset Pill** (`inset 0 1px 2px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.08)`): the only inset shadow — section anchor pills.

### Decorative (Community badges)

- **Badge Orange** (`#fb923c`): rating stars.
- **Badge Pink** (`#ec4899`): community accent.
- **Badge Violet** (`#8b5cf6`): community accent.
- **Badge Emerald** (`#34d399`): community accent.

### Semantic

- **Success** (`#10b981`): success state.
- **Warning** (`#f59e0b`): warning state.
- **Danger** (`#ef4444`): destructive confirm, error.
- **Info** (`#3b82f6`): informational banner.

### On-Dark (footer)

- **On Dark** (`#ffffff`): primary text on `#101010` footer.
- **On Dark Soft** (`#a1a1aa`): secondary text on footer.

## Typography

### Font Family

- **Primary (display):** `"Cal Sans", -apple-system, system-ui, "Segoe UI", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif`. Custom geometric face by Pablo Stanley, open-sourced under SIL OFL. Single weight: 600. Cut for display use.
- **Body (sans):** `Inter, -apple-system, system-ui, "Segoe UI", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif`. Open-source body companion. Weights: 400, 500, 600.
- **Mono:** `"JetBrains Mono", ui-monospace, SFMono-Regular, "SF Mono", Menlo, monospace`. System mono fallback consistent with the open-source posture.
- **OpenType features:** `kern`, `liga` enabled site-wide. `tnum` activated on label-mono and code surfaces.

### Principles

- **Cal Sans is reserved for display only.** It's a display cut — paragraph use breaks the design. h1, h2, hero, display all get Cal Sans; everything below h3 falls to Inter.
- **Three weights total.** Cal Sans ships with weight 600 only; Inter uses 400/500/600. The system's typographic restraint is an open-source value — slim font payload, system fallbacks.
- **Negative tracking on display.** -0.03em (-2px) at 64px scaling down to neutral at 18px body.
- **Family-based hierarchy, not weight-based.** The shift from Cal Sans (display) to Inter (body) carries hierarchy more than weight changes do.
- **Open-source mono fallback.** `ui-monospace` on Apple devices, JetBrains Mono if installed. No paid mono license. Consistent with open-source ideology.
- **The hierarchy can be cloned in an evening.** Any developer reading the site can implement Cal's typography stack in CSS the same night — that's the design intent.

## Layout

### Spacing System

- **Base unit:** 4px.
- **Scale:** 4 / 8 / 12 / 16 / 24 / 32 / 48 / 64 / 96 / 128 / 160.
- **Section padding:** 96px standard, 160px between major regions.
- **Card padding:** 24–32px depending on size.

### Grid & Container

- **Max content width:** 1200px on desktop.
- **Single-column anchored center-page** for hero and prose.
- **Feature grids:** 2-up at desktop for splits, 3-up for benefit lists.
- **Pricing:** 3-up at desktop, 2-up at tablet, 1-up at mobile.

### Whitespace Philosophy

Generous vertical gutters of 96–160px between regions; the page breathes. Mobile collapses cleanly because nothing was layered to begin with — there's no third tier to worry about. The asymmetry — tight inside cards (24–32px padding), wide outside — gives the page its open-source pacing.

### Section Cadence

- White hero on `#f4f4f4` canvas → floating section anchor pills → light-gray feature cards → testimonial wall → light-gray pricing → light-gray CTA band → dark `#101010` footer.
- The dark footer is the only tonal break. Everything above stays paper-white.
- No alternating light/dark sections in the chrome.

| Breakpoint | Range | Key Changes |
|---|---|---|
| Mobile | < 640px | display-hero 64→32px; section anchors collapse to inline buttons; feature 1-up; nav hamburger |
| Tablet | 640–1024px | display-hero 48px; feature 2-up; pricing 2-up |
| Desktop | 1024–1280px | display-hero 64px; feature 3-up; pricing 3-up |
| Wide | > 1280px | Content caps at 1200px; section anchors float center |

### Touch Targets

- Primary CTA: 40px height — at WCAG AA, padded for AAA.
- Section anchor pills: 36px height padded internally.
- Nav links: 32px tap target padded externally.

### Collapsing Strategy

- Top nav switches to hamburger below 768px.
- Section anchors → inline button row on mobile.
- Pricing 3-up → 1-up below 768px.
- Hero phone-mockup: scales fluidly with viewport.
- Footer: multi-column → stacked single-column.

### Image Behavior

Product UI fragments inside cards are real product chrome (HTML/CSS), not raster — they scale fluidly. Phone-mockup hero uses `srcset` 1x/2x/3x.

### Container Queries

Used inside product mockup cards — calendar widget reflows from week-view to day-view when card width drops below 480px.

## Elevation & Depth

| Level | Treatment | Use |
|---|---|---|
| 0 — Flat | `#f4f4f4` canvas | Body bands |
| 1 — Card | `#ffffff` or `#f5f5f5` + optional 1px `rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.08)` | Feature, pricing, testimonial cards |
| 2 — Section Anchor | `#ffffff` + inset shadow `inset 0 1px 2px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.08)` | Floating pill anchors — the page's single elevation moment |
| 3 — Modal / Dialog | `#ffffff` + 12px radius + elevated shadow | Modals (rare) |
| 4 — Footer | `#101010` flat | Dark navy footer — tonal break |

### Shadow Philosophy

Two-tier elevation only — the canvas and the cards. Borders are rare; cards float on the canvas via the slight `#ffffff` or `#f5f5f5`-on-`#f4f4f4` contrast plus an optional translucent hairline. Section anchor pills are the only inset-elevation on the page (`inset 0 1px 2px`). No drop shadows on chrome cards. The dark footer ends the page without any elevation device — it's flat against the canvas above it.

## Shapes

| Token | Value | Use |
|---|---|---|
| micro | 4px | Inline elements (rare) |
| sm | 6px | Compact rows |
| md | 8px | **Buttons, inputs** — soft rectangle, the developer-dialect default |
| lg | 12px | **Cards** — feature, pricing, testimonial, mockup |
| xl | 16px | **Hero app mockup card** |
| featured | 20px | Larger feature shells (rare) |
| pill | 9999px | **Section anchors, badges, avatars, app-store chips at 7px** |

The shape language is intentionally limited: pill (section anchor + badge), soft-rect (button at 8px), card (12–16px). The 7px app-store chip is the smallest in the system, deliberately referencing iOS app-store conventions. The pill at 9999 is reserved for floating elements that need to feel "on" the canvas rather than "of" it.

## Components

### Buttons

**Primary** — Background `#111111`, text `#ffffff`, 8px radius, padding `12px 20px`, height 40px, button font (14/600). Hover: background `#242424`, no transform. **Use:** Sign up / Get Started.

**Secondary** — Background `#ffffff`, text `#111111`, 1px `#e5e7eb` border, 8px radius, same padding/height as primary. Hover: background `#f5f5f5`, border `#d1d5db`. **Use:** Log in / Watch demo.

**Ghost** — Transparent background, ink text, 8px radius, padding `10px 14px`. Hover: `rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.04)` background. **Use:** tertiary text-only action.

**Danger** — Background `#ef4444`, white text, 8px radius. Hover `#dc2626`. **Use:** Delete account / destructive confirm.

**Icon Circular** — `#ffffff` background, ink text, 9999 radius, 36px square. **Use:** close / expand chrome.

**Text Link** — Transparent background, ink text, button font. **Use:** inline CTA inside body copy.

### Cards

**Feature Card (Light Gray)** — Background `#f5f5f5`, ink text, 12px radius, 32px padding. **No border.** The light gray on canvas creates the depth.

**Feature Icon Card (White Hairline)** — Background `#ffffff`, 1px `rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.08)` border, 12px radius, 24px padding. Used when product UI fragment lives inside.

**Product Mockup Card** — `#ffffff` background, 1px hairline, 12px radius, 24px padding, ambient shadow. Holds actual product UI fragments — calendar widget, scheduling form, integration row.

**Pricing Card** — `#ffffff` background, 1px `#e5e7eb` border, 12px radius, 32px padding.

**Pricing Card Featured** — Inverts to dark. Background `#101010`, white text, 12px radius, 32px padding. No colored ribbon — the dark inversion is the highlight.

**Testimonial Card** — `#f5f5f5` background, ink text, 12px radius, 24px padding.

**Hero App Mockup Card** — White surface, 16px radius, holds a phone screenshot frame.

### Section Anchors (signature)

**Section Anchor Pill** — `#ffffff` background, ink text, 9999 radius, `8px 18px` padding, inset shadow `inset 0 1px 2px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.08)` (the only inset on the page). The pill floats on the canvas as the page's only chromed element. **Use:** Benefits / Testimonials / App store / Wall of love anchors.

**App Store Chip** — `#ffffff` background, ink text, 1px `#e5e7eb` border, **7px radius** (the smallest in the system, reserved for app-store chips), `8px 16px` padding. **Use:** iPhone / Android download chips.

### Badges & Tags

**Badge** — `#f5f5f5` background, ink text, 9999 radius, `4px 12px` padding, caption font.

**Rating Stars** — Transparent background, `#fb923c` (badge-orange) text. Used in testimonial cards.

### Inputs & Forms

**Text Input** — Background `#ffffff`, 1px `#e5e7eb` border, 8px radius, padding `10px 14px`, height 40px, body font. Focus: border `#111111`, ring `0 0 0 2px rgba(17, 17, 17, 0.16)`.

### Navigation

**Top Nav** — Background `#ffffff` (over `#f4f4f4` canvas), 64px height. Layout: Cal.com wordmark left, horizontal menu (Product / Pricing / Customers / Resources / Enterprise), Log In + Sign Up CTA right.

**Nav Link** — Transparent background, ink text, body font, `8px 12px` padding. Hover: `rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.04)` background.

**Nav Pill Group** — `#f8f9fa` background, 9999 radius, 6px padding container. Houses segmented control tabs.

### Decorative

**CTA Band Light** — Pre-footer band on `#f5f5f5` background, 12px radius, 48px padding. Centered display-large headline + primary CTA.

**Footer** — `#101010` background, `#a1a1aa` text, 64px padding. Multi-column link grid. The page's only tonal break.

**Category Tab** — Tab navigation (default `#6b7280` text on transparent / active `#ffffff` background with ink text). 8px radius, `8px 14px` padding, button font.

### Easing & Duration

- **ease-standard:** `cubic-bezier(0.4, 0, 0.2, 1)` — material default.
- **ease-emphasized:** `cubic-bezier(0.2, 0, 0, 1)` — used for section anchor pill scroll-snap.
- **ease-entrance:** `cubic-bezier(0, 0, 0.2, 1)` — content fade-in.
- **duration-fast:** 150ms — color transitions on hover.
- **duration-standard:** 250ms — opacity / transform on cards.
- **duration-slow:** 400ms — section transitions.

### Per-Component Micro-States

- **Button hover:** background `#111111` → `#242424`, no transform. 150ms.
- **Card hover (feature):** subtle background shift `#f5f5f5` → `#f0f0f0` (subtle). No lift. 250ms.
- **Section anchor pill hover:** inset shadow deepens slightly. 150ms.
- **Link hover:** color shifts to `#0000aa` (darker browser blue). Underline persists (it's a default link). 150ms.
- **Input focus:** border `#e5e7eb` → `#111111`, ring fades in. 150ms.
- **Nav link hover:** subtle `rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.04)` background. 150ms.

### Page Transitions

The homepage uses on-scroll fade-in for cards entering viewport (opacity 0 → 1, translateY(8px) → 0, 400ms). Section anchor pills scroll-snap to viewport center on smooth-scroll. No hero animation — the typography is the entrance.

### Reduced Motion

Respects `prefers-reduced-motion: reduce`. When set:
- Card hover transforms collapse to opacity-only.
- Section anchor scroll-snap disabled (smooth-scroll → instant).
- On-scroll reveals appear instantly.

### Contrast Pairs

| Pair | Ratio | WCAG |
|---|---|---|
| `#111111` text on `#f4f4f4` canvas | 18.2 | AAA |
| `#374151` body on `#f4f4f4` canvas | 7.9 | AAA at body |
| `#ffffff` on `#111111` CTA | 19.5 | AAA |
| `#0000ee` link on `#f4f4f4` | 8.3 | AAA at body |
| `#6b7280` muted on `#f4f4f4` | 4.7 | AA |
| `#ffffff` on `#101010` footer | 19.7 | AAA |
| `#a1a1aa` soft on `#101010` footer | 7.0 | AAA at body |

### Focus Indicators

2px solid `#111111` ring with 2px offset on light canvas. White ring on dark footer. Applied to every interactive element — buttons, links, inputs, section anchors, nav.

### ARIA Patterns

- **Tablist:** `role="tablist"` for category filter tabs.
- **Dialog:** `role="dialog"` + `aria-modal="true"` + focus trap on signup modal.
- **Listbox:** `role="listbox"` for nav search autocomplete.

### Keyboard Nav

- Tab order strictly visual.
- Skip-link present in header (visible on focus).
- Section anchors are real `<a href="#section">` — keyboard accessible by default.
- Escape closes modals.

### Screen Reader

- Decorative product mockup illustrations marked `aria-hidden="true"`.
- Section anchor pills include text content (no icon-only).
- Footer link groups use `<nav aria-label="Footer">`.

### Reduced Motion

Honored — see §8.

### Tone

Friendly, confident, slightly understated. Cal.com's voice sounds like an open-source maintainer presenting at OSS Summit — informed, generous, slightly self-deprecating about the calendar problem ("scheduling is hard; we made it less hard"). Sentences trend short. Headlines are declarative ("The better way to schedule your meetings").

### Microcopy Patterns

- **Button verbs:** "Get started for free", "Sign up", "Log in", "Watch demo", "Book a call", "Contact sales", "View on GitHub".
- **Error recipe:** `[What failed] — [Why] — [What to do]`. Example: "Couldn't sync calendar. Token expired. Reconnect to continue."
- **Success confirmations:** terse — "Booked", "Saved", "Synced". No exclamation, no emoji.
- **Empty states:** instructional. "No meetings yet — create a link to share."

### CTA Verb Conventions

- Primary: "Get started for free", "Sign up", "Try it free".
- Secondary: "Watch demo", "View on GitHub", "Read the docs", "Contact sales".
- Avoid: "Sign up now!", emoji-heavy CTAs, "Join thousands of teams".
- Open-source signal: "View on GitHub" appears prominently in nav and footer — Cal embraces the OSS identity.

### Empty States

When a Wall-of-Love filter has no results, Cal.com shows: "No testimonials match. Try a different filter." Plain text, no illustration. The minimalism IS the empty state.

Cal.com's marketing site is **light-only by default**. The dark `#101010` footer is the only dark tonal element. The product itself ships with a dark mode (preference inside the dashboard), but marketing chrome stays paper-white.

If a dark variant were rendered (preference inside docs):
- `bg` → `#0a0a0a`
- `text` → `#f4f4f4` (the canvas becomes the ink)
- `surface` → `#1a1a1a`
- `border` → `rgba(255, 255, 255, 0.08)`
- Link blue `#0000ee` shifts to a lighter `#6699ff` for contrast on dark.

But this is product, not marketing.

Cal.com sits at the intersection of **open-source minimalism** (Cal Sans released free, system mono fallback, Inter body), **type-first marketing sites** (Vercel, Linear), and **paper-white editorial restraint** (Stripe Press). It rejects the SaaS-blue-CTA orthodoxy by using `#111111` near-black for the action surface — the same color as headline text — and rejects the stock-illustration orthodoxy by showing actual product UI fragments inside cards.

The custom Cal Sans display family (designed by Pablo Stanley and released open-source under SIL OFL) is the brand's deepest investment. Where Linear leans on Inter and Vercel uses Geist, Cal commissioned a face and gave it away — the move is part marketing, part open-source ideology. Inter as body companion keeps the system slim; the whole typography stack is implementable in an evening.

The browser-default link blue `#0000ee` preserved on secondary navigation pills is the most ideological choice on the page. It signals: "we trust the web's defaults; we don't need to design over them."

**Named influences:**

- **Cal Sans** (Pablo Stanley, SIL OFL open-source) — the entire brand identity.
- **Inter** (Rasmus Andersson, open-source) — body sans companion.
- **Vercel** — clean type-first sans-serif marketing surface.
- **Stripe Press** — paper-white editorial restraint, hairline-only depth.
- **Calendly** — direct competitor; Cal positions as the open-source alternative.

## Do's and Don'ts

### Do

- **Do** anchor the canvas at `#f4f4f4` paper-white — warmer than `#fafafa`, cooler than `#ffffff`.
- **Do** anchor the entire identity on Cal Sans. Cal Sans IS the brand — strip away the illustrations and the gradient and let type carry the page.
- **Do** preserve browser defaults where they fit your ideology — the `#0000ee` link blue is a tell that the team trusts the open web.
- **Do** keep the surface palette to two tiers (canvas + white). Three tiers would dilute the paper feel.
- **Do** use Cal Sans for display only — h1 / h2 / hero. Fall back to Inter for h3 and below.
- **Do** show actual product UI fragments inside cards — calendar widgets, scheduling forms — instead of stock illustrations.
- **Do** use `#111111` near-black for primary CTAs. The brand color IS the text color.
- **Do** scope chromatic accents to in-product widgets (calendar `#3b82f6` blue) — never on chrome.
- **Do** close long pages with the dark `#101010` footer. It's the page's only tonal break.
- **Do** keep weights minimal: Cal Sans 600, Inter 400/500/600. Three weights total.

### Don't

- **Don't** introduce a chromatic accent color. Cal's "brand color" is essentially text-on-paper.
- **Don't** add hero illustrations or product screenshots above the fold. The headline is the hero.
- **Don't** use Cal Sans for body copy — it's a display cut. Fall back to Inter / system sans for paragraph text.
- **Don't** override the browser-default link blue with a custom blue. The `#0000ee` is the open-web signal.
- **Don't** use pill (9999) on buttons. Buttons are 8px soft rectangles. Pills are reserved for section anchors and badges.
- **Don't** add drop shadows to feature cards. Light gray `#f5f5f5` on canvas creates the depth.
- **Don't** introduce a third sans family beyond Cal Sans + Inter.
- **Don't** mix in stock illustrations for features. Show product UI fragments instead.
- **Don't** clutter the chrome with banners, marquees, or announcement bars. The discipline IS the brand.
- **Don't** scale Cal Sans below 22px. Below that, fall back to Inter — Cal Sans is cut for display.

### Example Component Prompts

- **"Create a hero section in the Cal.com style"** — `#f4f4f4` paper canvas, 64px Cal Sans h1 at weight 600 with `-0.03em` tracking, 18px Inter body subhead at weight 400, two CTAs (`#111111` near-black primary + white secondary). No hero illustration; the typography is the hero.

- **"Design a feature card in the Cal.com style"** — `#f5f5f5` light gray background (no border), 12px radius, 32px padding. h4 title in Inter 18/600, body in Inter 16/400. Holds a product UI fragment (calendar widget / scheduling form) inside the card body — not a stock illustration.

- **"Build a primary CTA in the Cal.com style"** — `#111111` near-black background, white text, 8px radius (NOT pill), `12px 20px` padding, 40px height, button font (14/600). Hover background `#242424`. The brand color IS the text color.

- **"Make a section anchor in the Cal.com style"** — `#ffffff` background, ink text, 9999 pill radius, `8px 18px` padding, inset shadow `inset 0 1px 2px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.08)`. Floats on the canvas as the only chromed element. **Use:** Benefits / Testimonials / App store anchors.

- **"Render a pricing tier in the Cal.com style"** — Standard tier: `#ffffff` background, 1px `#e5e7eb` border, 12px radius, 32px padding. Featured tier inverts to `#101010` background with white text — same shape, dark inversion as the highlight.

- **"Design a footer in the Cal.com style"** — `#101010` dark navy background, `#a1a1aa` muted text, 64px padding. Multi-column link grid. Sits as the only tonal break at the bottom of the page.

### Iteration Guide

1. Start with Cal Sans on `#f4f4f4` canvas. Display weight 600, negative tracking. The typography IS the brand.
2. Apply `#111111` near-black for CTAs and headlines. Same color as text — the brand is text-color.
3. Cards use 12px radius. Light gray `#f5f5f5` on canvas creates depth without borders or shadows.
4. Section anchors are pills (9999 radius) with inset shadow. The only chromed element on the page.
5. Show actual product UI inside cards. Don't paint marketing illustrations of features.
6. Preserve browser-default link blue `#0000ee` on secondary nav pills. Open-web ideology.
7. Close long pages with the dark `#101010` footer. The only tonal break.
8. Three weights: Cal Sans 600, Inter 400/500/600. Resist adding more.
